Problem
A traditional-styled bathroom in Huddersfield belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone was dated and needed a complete refresh. The small bathroom consisted of a WC, basin, and bath, with the couple looking to explore their options and make better use of the available space.
Solution
Whilst the couple were browsing the internet, they came across our More Bathrooms brand and enquired online with a view to gathering more information and seeing if we could provide them with the service they were looking for.
A member of our team got in touch with them and explained in detail the process of our fully project-managed service and how More Bathrooms, part of the Passmore Group, is a true family-run home improvement business, specialising in kitchens, mobility, and bedrooms renovations.
Happy with the information received about our service and reputation the couple were eager to be booked for a free design appointment for a Senior Designer to visit their home and take them through the initial stages of a new bathroom.
Visiting their home, our experienced Designer Julie sat down with the couple to have a detailed conversation about the existing bathroom design, their expectations, and whether they had any ideas for the new concept.
They explained to Julie that their main aim was to remove the bath in their existing concept and replace it with a more practical showering solution.
Continuing with their conversation, they wanted to see if a walk-in shower with a bench installation was a possibility going forward and sought advice from Julie to provide them with her expert opinion on the new concept.
Taking in the fact that the couple wanted a shower, Julie advised that the best place to install the shower area would be in front of the window. Her reasons for this were that it would create space and width in the shower and the room, providing the couple with the option to include the desired Corian bench.
With the 3 of them in agreement. Julie continued with her design proposal that included a 2 head shower offering the couple flexibility, and traditional styled bath fixtures.
Thrilled so far with the service and Julie’s design, the couple were then given an idea of cost for the projec, which they were happy with and eager to proceed. Julie then invited them for a second appointment at our remarkable Leeds Bathroom Showroom.
Julie behind the design – ‘With a clear brief and aims
for the project we managed to design and deliver the shower room concept that
the couple wanted. Tweaking the layout to make it more practical, the
reconfiguration created space and allowed us to incorporate the sought-after bench’
During the second appointment, the couple were presented with CAD visuals of the proposed Walk-In shower refurbishment, which included all the bath features that were agreed upon at the first meeting. The images also gave the couple different angles of the room to help them envision how the finished shower room would look.
Excited by the images and how the project was taking shape, Julie then went with the couple around the showroom to help them choose their final bath touches. Once they had made their choices, they proceeded to place an order with us.

Installation
Mr. and Mrs. Johnstone were introduced to our Bathroom Surveyor Joe who visited the couple and would liaise with the fitter through the duration of the project to make sure it ran smoothly.
Replacing the existing design, our multi-skilled fitter Martin transformed the bathroom into a beautiful bespoke Walk-In Shower, fit with a mixture of sleek white and grey modern and traditional bath features.
The window where the WC and bath were originally fit were taken out and replaced with a plentiful walk-in shower. Inside the new shower, a stunning Corian bench was fit, providing the couple with an area to sit. The rest of the walk-in shower was fit with a white recessed shower tray, matching the grey and white bench.
Giving Mr and Mrs Johnstone options and flexibility multiple shower heads were installed along with complementary grey wall tiles and glass screen.
Outside of the shower, installed next to each other were a WC and a traditional Volarte vanity unit and basin, bringing a touch of retro elegance to the new concept. The new unit also gave the couple storage for them to put their bathroom accessories.
Completing the new design new a tall towel radiator and
brown laminate flooring were fit.
