A favoured shower room option due there waterproofing properties, wall boards are easy to clean and relatively maintenance free due to their unbroken / no grout finish.

Increasing in popularity wall boards tend to be a cheaper option over bathroom tiles (link) and with a reasonable selection of choice now available the range of wall boards include:

Solid Core Wall Boards.

Solid core wall boards are commonly constructed from MDF (Medium Density Fibre Boards) or Plywood and covered in a waterproof laminate.

Solid core wall boards are available in a wide range of colours and finishes however it is important to know that some cleaning products can dull their surfaces, so it is important to always check the packaging before cleaning.

UPVC Wall Boards.

UPVC (un-plasticised poly vinyl chloride) wall boards are known for being very durable and hard wearing.

They are easy to clean and can look as good as new with a simple wipe down of soap and water. It should be noted however UPVC wall boards have fewer colour and design options than solid core wall boards so which you choose will depend on your preferred finish.

Acrylic Wall Boards.

Acrylic wall boards are high gloss wall boards that provide a similar shine to glass wall coverings at a lower price.

Acrylic wall boards do tend to be more expensive than solid core wall boards and uPVC wall boards however they are better suited if you want to use a wall board to create a statement feature in your bathroom or shower room.
